Have you looked in the sale papers for a PS3? If you do see them on sale it’s not much off the regular price. It can sometimes be frustrating if you’re on a tight budget.
I feel your pain! I’ve tried to justify the purchase in so many ways. To start building a PS3 fund I thought I would begin by selling my old PS2 games. I’ve even thought about my old jeans in the closet, the ones with holes in them and seem all fashionable and seeing what I could sell them for on eBay. I even cleaned out the garage scrounging for old tools and junk that I haven’t used in years so I could sell them on eBay. We even had a yard sale so I could try to earn enough money to buy the PS3. I grossed just over 50 bucks. By the way, garage sales will not get you the most money! I definitely recommend auctioning your old stuff off on eBay, you’ll make much more money.
You see, I’ve felt the same way before. With all the available accessories, games and hi-tech features you really get more bang for your buck with the PS3. A primary selling point for me is that it is Blu-Ray. Obviously, the games are awesome in HD and I just upgraded my Netflix membership to include Blu-Ray/HD movies as well. Good luck getting that point past the wife! Truthfully, once I got my wife hooked on Hi-Def TV we’ve never looked back. At the end of the day it turned out to be easy to persuade her to get the PS3 on every front except the price.
I’ve been digging around for a while and I’ve discovered that to get the best price on the best game system that plays Blu-Ray you can’t get a better value than with a PS3. Even when it’s not on sale! You’ll spend $200-250 bucks on a basic Blu-Ray player anyway. Unfortunately for Microsoft, HD-DVD was not the chosen format going forward and this will ultimately hurt their sales. For me it was all about the hunt and getting the PS3 at a true sale price.
I searched on eBay and some other traditional auction sites and found that there really aren’t any PS3 Sale Prices out there. They show perceived value by including all these extras that you may or may not even care about. It just doesn’t add up when I’m trying to save money, not spend more.
I had to get creative with my thinking and break away from the herd. I began looking into unique bid auction sites. For my money there is simply no comparison to www.auctions4acause.com. They have much more selection among everyday items than most of the other sites including the PS3. Most other sites focus on really high-dollar items like cars, boats, houses and land. You can pretty it up all you want but I just want the PS3!
Once I found that site I knew I had what I was looking for. They had 2 items going for them in that they had the item I wanted at a potentially very inexpensive price. I visited the site and setup an account. I placed 3 bids and hoped that they were unique and the lowest. Unfortunately, I didn’t get it the first time. I had to wait until the next one came up for bid. I placed 3 more bids on it and crossed my fingers and waited. Bingo! The second time around I won. 7 days later I was playing Hot Shots Golf on my new PS3. All told I had bid less than $59.64. Not bad, huh?
It can take a few minutes of reading to truly grasp the concept of the lowest unique bid auction style. After you grasp the idea you could become addicted. Since that time that I won the PS3 I’ve bid on and won 3 other items including an iPod Nano (they have the best iPod Prices) and $400 gas card. I’m getting about 4 to 1 on my money so far with $1,200 in items for less than $360 in bidding.
If you’re looking for the best prices don’t bother with the Best Buys or Walmarts. Create an account at Auctions4aCause and see what kind of deal you can get.
